PURPOSE/JOB SUMMARY:

Red Deer’s newest thrift store, reNew, is seeking a full-time Manager who will become part of the vision and purpose of the ministry. The ideal candidate will have strong people skills, be able to mentor and lead volunteers to effectively operate the store. The right candidate must deliver exceptional customer service, understand inventory control, pricing, marketing, financial management, health and safety regulations.

reNew Thrift Store is a non-profit Christian organization and will be operated primarily by dedicated volunteers. All profits from reNew Thrift Store will stay in Red Deer. These funds will help support the needs of the most vulnerable members of our community.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand federal and provincial legislation applicable to voluntary sector organizations including:  employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, charities, etc.
  • Provide constructive feedback and acknowledge contributions and efforts of team members.
  • Attend board meetings and keep the board, co-workers and supervisory staff informed.
  • Scheduling, assigning and monitoring a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Monitor costs, sales and month-end financial reports to ensure the store objectives are achieved.
  • Create the annual operating budget to present to the board.
  • Continually looking for ways to improve the store performance.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma
  • Other business related secondary education would be an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint would be an asset.
  • Fluent in the English language with effective verbal and written communication skills.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years’ experience in retail sales, leadership and management as they relate to non-profit/ voluntary organizations.

  • Willing to pray with people who work or volunteer for reNew Thrift Store.  This includes, but is not limited to opening in prayer at the Thrift Store each morning and staff meetings.

  • Promotes good communications both verbally and written throughout the organization.
  • Ensures good housekeeping habits and maintains a neat, clean, safe, and secure store.
